The Baja Cactus Hotel in El Rosario: A Truly Gorgeous Place

Through my friend Dennis (who I met in La Paz last winter), we learned about a great restaurant and hotel in El Rosario, which we checked out online.

The hotel was amazing, one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. And the price? Only $350 pesos (about $30.00USD). A comparable room in the Victoria area would be around $200/night.

The suite we had boasted a large vaulted ceiling with heavy wood beams, huge dark wood furniture,

an enormous king size bed, fabulous tiling throughout,

a shower with rain shower head, a bench and enough room for a party.

It was fabulous. If you’re in this area, I highly recommend it.

The only down side? We were in the middle of a torrential rainstorm, one of the worst I’ve ever seen. We sprung leaks from the roof, under the door and from one of the windows, which was right next to our computer station.

At one point I found my laptop transformer sitting in a puddle of water. Thank God it didn’t short out.

Another concern was the thermostat. We were unable to turn up the heat, despite different settings. It stayed stubbornly at 66 F, so it was a bit cold.

The restaurant next door was Mama Espinosa’s. Great Mexican food at a good price.
