As we’ve been getting settled, we’ve been taking in the environment around us. One of the things that captures our attention are the neighborhood dogs. Many are an annoyance and their barking can drive me nuts, especially at night, when several of them tend to get going. An exception was this little guy…

At the moment, we’ve parked our butts in the 7 Crown Hotel in La Paz. First off, I wouldn’t recommend this place, mostly because we got a smoking room, even after clearly asking for a non-smoking room. Still, it’s not what we got, despite what they told me at the front desk. In addition, an ashtray with matches was sitting on the nightstand.

This is a short excerpt on the Posada de las Flores, a hotel that’s a replica of a much older establishment. It’s beautiful here, but a word of warning, if you want to eat or stay here, make sure you have a healthy bank balance.

Crossing into Mexico from the San Diego/Palm Springs, there are several options. These are Tijuana, Tecate and Calexico/Mexicali. Of these, avoid Tijuana like the plague. There are many problems there and I’ve heard stories of shootings on the autopista (toll highway) south of there. We decided on Tecate because we’d been told it’s a nice crossing, which is true.
