Beta Sigma Phi, Saturday, December 13th, will have plenty of delicious baked goods and hand-made crafts at the annual Beta Sigma Phi Christmas Boutique, from 10am-2pm, located at Lazaro Cardenas #52, Bucerias (near Mark’s Restaurant) The local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, an international service sorority, has held a popular Christmas Boutique each December in Bucerias. Again, this year, Beta Sigma Phi has expanded the Boutique to include local artists selling their works. The focus of the Boutique is unique, hand-crafted items. The organizers of the 1° Feria Del Buzo are thrilled that Bucerias now has lights and trees around the Town Square as they prepare for the big event Sunday, December 21st from 3 pm to 11pm. For entertainment they are working on Mariachi and Banda bands and Folkloric Ballet. They have confirmed Brittany Kingerly, Tabaco Road and Moruna Band. Activities being planned are face painting, piñata making, fish printing, fitness challenge, soccer challenge, jumpy castles and trampoline and even more.
Restaurants confirmed to be participating are IXTA, Mark’s Bar & Grill, Esquina 22, Delicias Mexicanas, Delices de France and caterer Bucerias Bites. They have donations for raffles from Jan Marie Boutique, Sandrina’s, Le Bistro, IXTA, Mark’s Bar & Grill, Delicias Mexicanas, Emporium Riviera Nayarit, Roland Daily, Esquina 22…and are expecting many more. Sponsors, volunteers and participants are in high demand so please let them know how you want to pitch in.
To date, with a Pre-inauguaration Dinner in June, merchandise sales, ticket and raffle ticket sales (if you bought a raffle ticket for the Replica and T-shirts raffle, you still have a chance to win..the draw will be that day.), nearly $40,000 pesos of the $205,000 pesos ($190000 for sculpture, $12000 pesos for base and $3000 for transport ) has been raised. Monies are applied to the loan for the sculpture, the base and transport in that order. Any excess funds will be turned over to the town of Bucerias.
Entrance ticket $50 pesos. Food/Activity/Raffle tickets $10 pesos. All available in advance and on the day.
A portion of proceeds of merchandize sales is applied to the Buzo EXCEPT for limited edition bronze replicas and Tequila.

Encore Restaurant will be featuring some special entertainers this season. The first one for this season is Colin Wiebe, who will be performing on Dec 11, Thursday with a trio starting at 7:00 pm. They still have a few seats for this show. The regular shows at Encore are as follows: Thurs and Fri- Ms. Armi Grano with Gerry on Keys, Fri and Wed-Ms. Armi Grano and the Viva Jazz Trio
All shows start from 7 pm to 10 pm. There is no cover charge as usual. Some propinas will be much appreciated by the musicians. They highly recommend dinner reservations to cover some musicians’ costs.
They are now taking reservations for our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Dinner. The Christmas menu consists of a 3 Course Dinner Starter Choices: Caprese Salad, Cream of Roasted Beet, Shrimp Ceviche
Main Choices: Traditional Turkey ($380), Filet Mignon($480), Seafood Platter ($480)
Dessert Choices: Apple Crumble ala Mode, Red Velvet Cake
Shambhala Meditation Class Begins:Brus and Jean Westby will again be offering their popular Shambhala Meditation Class beginning Sunday, 12/13, 10-11 A.M., at the Bucerias Bilingual Community Center building on 16 de Septiembre Street, just off Matamoros. (Matamoros is the street just south of the central arroyo highway bridge. Go east on Matamoros two blocks to 16 de Septiembre, then turn right. The BBCC is a few houses down on the right hand side.)
Shambhala Meditation is designed for those of us who lead busy, engaged lives. Through this meditation, we develop mental and emotional stability, leading to insight, wisdom and compassion for others. Whether or not you have any experience with meditation, come join us this Sunday. A 50 peso donation is requested.
The Lady Bug Kitchen, El Centro Bucerias, serving breakfast 8am – 1pm Tuesday – Sunday. They specialize in Eggs Benny, homemade buttermilk biscuits & gravy and Belgian waffles. They are located across the from Breakers Beach Bar. They also take great joy in serving their special Tuesday evening, 3 course meal, featuring English Style Prime Rib with Yorkshire Pudding, gravy and all the fixings, for only 195 pesos. Bistro by the Bay, located just one block from The LadyBug Kitchen. Open for late lunch and lighter fare dinners, 3-9pm, Wednesday through Sunday or by special arrangement for your private function. With dishes such as Creamy Port Mushroom Soup, Large House Salad, Wedge Caesar, Quiche of the Day, Reuben Sandwich, The Beloved Grilled Cheese, Hummus with Grilled Pita, Port Tenderloin on Sticks, Grilled Filet Mignon Steak with Blue Cheese Cream Sauce.
The House Dessert…. Caramelized Orange Cointreau Sauce topped with Scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream & drizzled with Hot Fudge. All of their delicious meals are under a hundred pesos. Also, each Friday evening, go to the Bistro for “Dinner with Brittany”, $150 pesos includes a tasty, 3 course meal, in a lovely setting listening to Brittany Kingery sing from her new album. Healthcare information for the cruising community in this area Including SkyMed – an Emergency Evacuation Service for Cruisers.” Pamela Thompson is a dedicated and knowledgeable local health care resource person and will discuss a wide variety of medical facilities and physicians available to cruisers and folks who are living in the surrounding areas.
Pamela Bendall is a veteran cruiser in North, Central and South America and is the new SkyMed specialist specifically dedicated to cruisers. Sadly on a boat we do not have the luxury of planning our medical emergencies so be prepared now and join Pam & Pam for medical resources around the bay. The Puerto Vallarta Chamber Orchestra winter concert will take place under the baton of Daniel Olivares on Sunday 14 December at 4pm in Teatro Vallarta (Uruguay 184, 5 de Diciembre, 48350 Puerto Vallarta, 322-222-4525.
This year there will only be one concert as unfortunately no venue is available in Nuevo Vallarta. So maybe you would like to make an afternoon and evening of it and enjoy beautiful Vallarta in all its festive splendor. Tickets cost $150 at the door, concessions $50 pesos. The program includes Tchaikowsky’s Romeo and Juliet and Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony as well as holiday music and SYNG choir performing. Please tell all your friends!
