    Champurrado (aka Atole)

This hot, bubbling concoction is my favorite drink, known locally as: “Champurrado,” though on the mainland it’s also known as “Atole.” It’s made with the same corn mix as one would use for tortilla’s, though in this case it’s mixed with hot milk, cinnamon and sugar.

I’m able to this drink from a vendor on the Malecon in La Paz, right beside the bus station, one block north of Cinco de Mayo.

This is the pot used by the vendor. It’s a popular drink and it sells out quickly. It’s a must-try if you’ve never had it before. Provecho!
