    Barra de Navidad: The Lagoon

Filed under: Barra de Navidad; Tagged as: Barra de Navidad, barra de navidad bird sancturary, barra de navidad jalisco, barra de navidad jalisco mexico, barra de navidad lagoon, roadside memorials

In this posting, we’re going to have a look at the lagoon. If you go on this tour, it costs about 200 pesos. Make sure you bring a warm jacket because it gets quite cold on the water (I wore my heavy fleece jacket – I really needed it this morning.

    Barra de Navidad Beaches

Filed under: Barra de Navidad; Tagged as: Barra de Navidad, barra de navidad beaches, barra de navidad jalisco, roadside memorials

Barra de Navidad is situated on a long penisula that forms a natural breakwater. As you get close to the Grand Bay Hotel across the water, you can see the channel formed by the water as it travels behind the peninsula.

    Barra de Navidad

Filed under: Barra de Navidad; Tagged as: Barra de Navidad, barra de navidad jalisco, barra de navidad jalisco mexico, roadside memorials

Once I’d arrived in Puerto Vallarta, I realized almost immediately that it didn’t feel right. Within two hours, I wanted to leave, but I was held back from doing so by my power supply problem, which demanded resolution. Fortunately I was able to deal with it quickly and left town two days later to Barra de Navidad, roughly a 3-1/2 hour bus ride to the south.

Melaque: 5 Minutes from Barra de Navidad

Filed under: Barra de Navidad; Tagged as: Barra de Navidad, melaque, roadside memorials

There are buses servicing the small towns in this area (Barra). Some, like Melaque, are only five minutes away. Melaque is a much larger area than Barra and there’s a lot going on there.
