Zacatecas is an amazing place, famous not only for its architecture, but it’s art. Today, Fernando took me to El Museo Rafael Coronel.

As you can see by the sign above, the museum was a former convent.

To give you an idea of the scope of the place, here are some photos of the grounds.

If you’re wondering why we came here, the museum is famous for it’s collection of masks. Above is information about the museum itself, but also a map showing the distribution of masks through the republic of Mexico.

I wasn’t supposed to take any shots in here, but I really couldn’t help myself. The collection was grand, and enormous. This photo gives you only the tiniest idea of what’s available here.

Another small sampling of what’s here. To put things in perspective, this museum is huge. If you love masks, you have to come here. I guarantee that you’ll be awestruck by the collection. Why? Because according to my estimation, there are upwards of 5,000 masks here. You simply must come and visit. It will take your breath away.
