  • I wrote to the CRA and asked for proof that I (keeping in mind that my birth name is not my all capitals fictitious strawman name) am required to pay tax on my ‘income’. They could not provide any proof, nor could they provide any legal definition of ‘income’ and their letter confirming this constitutes a legal ‘Constitution of Agreement’ that I do not have to pay taxes. I have not filed taxes in over 12 years and have not received so much as one letter from the CRA and I still have my home and two cars. Tax paying is entirely voluntary as there is no law or legal contract in the world that states that you are obliged to participate. The CRA can only audit you if you consent to the audit and their juristiction is granted only by allowing them into your home. Never open the door for anyone from the CRA or respond to assesment letters and you will be fine. They have no legal leg to stand on and they know it. If I were ever threatened with an assesment or seizure of assets I would simply produce my ‘Constitution of Agreement’ letter from the CRA and laugh. And I would only produce my CA through mail and not in court as anyone with half a brain knows that you NEVER show up at a CRA hearing because you grant them contract the minute you show up.

The only thing you have to fear is fear itself.

  • You may be right, though I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss the CRA. That could be asking for trouble – in my opinion. Having said that, there are ways to fight back and Alan Baggett offers many tools in his book.

  • @DPT I would love to know more. Do you have any idea if the same applys to residents of Quebec? Does anyone have any information on not filing taxes in Quebec?

  • The answers you seek are in Alan Baggett’s book, The Tax Collectors Bible. Alan is the authority on this subject and I recommend that you read his book and also write to him directly. As for the book, it’s a PDF and is only around $34CDN with tax.
