Lately, I’ve been getting a message on my cell phone about registering my number, which has left me puzzled, especially since I registered my phone when I bought it.

Well, it has to be done again and this includes the phone card I’m using in my aircard. We have to go to a telcel office with our passports to do this. It cannot be done over the phone.

The reason for it is this: Mexican Congress, in an attempt to reduce organized crime in the country, has passed a law which states that all cell phones must be registered by April 11, 2010. If you don’t, you’ll lose your service. From what I understand, this applies to all cell phones and all plans.
