Leucadia (20 miles north of San Diego)

As you can see, the park behind the sign is flooded. It really suprised me, this trip to California. I’d thought it would be a good place to spend the winter, with temperatures around 70 degrees or so. Nothing could be further from the truth. In reality, temperatures hovered around 50 degrees with a stiff wind.
It was much colder than I’d thought and I was looking forward to getting out of here. To it’s credit, Leucadia, and all the seaside towns in this area were quite attractive, but also very expensive. A price of $1,500.00 per month for a one bedroom apartment seemed to be the norm.

One of the pathways leading to the beach. The upper portion was made of concrete and the lower portion

is built out of wood on concrete pilings.

There are signs all over the place, warning of bluff failure. From what I understand it happens often.

For all you dog lovers. A store I found on the main drag (Pacific Highway 101) in Leucadia.

In case you get lost. These are pressed into the concrete sidewalks.
